It is May 12th and such a great damn day to enjoy a music festival  specifically in Seaport Village in Downtown San Diego, CA, USA, Earth, Milky Way Solar System. This day one lineup was something to anticipate and gawk over. It had a few big name artists such as Kaytraynada, JID, Joey Bada$$, Bakar, and T-Pain + many other artists who definitely peaked my damaged little eyes. Starting the day off by finding the box office to secure the media pass, and good grief (media!), it was such a gorgeous walk from where the festival is to the box office. The walk was along the boardwalk of Seaport Village where you get a breathtaking view of the San Diego Marina as well as the Coronado bridge. It was amazing to see the mesh of people who were literally there just to enjoy the day and they saw a massive influx of people dressing quite flashy and getting their absolute best fits off. Following the adventure of acquiring the media passes, we finally entered the festival which was very well organized, easy to follow, and overall great staff members that helped us get around.

Let the freaking day begin! All around the festival had a lot to do such as: eating some great food and refreshing drinks, many booths to win some prizes from, games scattered around so whenever you are wanting to kill time, and seating areas where you can relax those party kickers. I, myself, had to immediately indulge in some drinking where I got a Deep Eddy’s  cocktail to get juices flowing and the vision even more shot down. Who needs eyes when you have two friends that can guide you? Anyways, the first set we attended was this funky soulful group called Phony Ppl. Now the energy that they were evoking in their music was nothing short of uplifting and just a whole lot of fun. I was shaking some tush to that and a few times my glasses had fallen off my face from intensive dancing. Following that set was Saint Luna in which is a local band that formed while they all were in college at SDSU. They were great live performers and definitely matched a San Diego type of vibe of music. Switching up the genre here, T-Pain’s set was astonishing and reminded how timeless his music is. His live performance blew me away and how insanely talented he is as a singer. Truly a bucket list thing seeing him perform. Then coming up after was my favorite set of the night, Paris Texas. They came out with such a tenacious approach, ready to get the crowd moving and moshing. Ending the set with PANIC! was the icing on the cake for me on that set; an absolute raging yet fun song. Aside from the great live music, Wonderfront was also family friendly! A lot of fun little games kids can play around the festival and outside of the festival as well. That is actually one of the cooler things about the festival: how you can exit and re-enter the festival. As a San Diego native, the overall festival was a grand time the way it was handled and what it had to offer. I was impressed with the scattered stage placements and having close bars for each stage. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at this festival and would love to see it continue in San Diego in the later years.
